Power limitations on cars by car manufacturers In The Japanese car market.

JDM cars were limited by a agreement among manufacturers to 280 horsepower  in 1988 and a top speed of 190 killometers per hour since the late 1970s, both imposed by "Jama", mostly because of safety concerns and  later because of  concerns regarding gangs. The horsepower limit was lifted in 2004. But the speed limit of 180 kilometers remains to this day depending on the make and model of vehicle. Many JDM sports cars have speedometers that only go up to 180 kilometers per hour, even though the car would be capable of much higher speeds if not for the limit that was imposed on them.  http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-60840.html
